What to Consider When Choosing Bedroom Furniture

Bedroom furniture is not something you replace every couple of years, and when you do decide to replace or upgrade, it can seem like a big task. You may be reading up and doing your research online on the key pieces you should be investing in and also trying to understand differences between say a chest and dresser or a bedside table and nightstand for example.

Look around to see what is available at furniture stores sunshine coast before deciding on the pieces to purchase. There are some key points to keep in mind when shopping for bedroom furniture that will make the task easier and the result outstanding. Read below for some key considerations.

It is absolutely important that you measure your room before you begin your search for the perfect bedroom furniture. The furniture and décor items you purchase must not only be proportional to the size of your bedroom but also each other to deliver an aesthetically pleasing, cohesive look and feel.

Once the measurements are in place and you have an idea of the key pieces you want to purchase for your bedroom, think about the design and style you want for your bedroom and your bed in particular. Would you like a Zen-inspired low platform bed or a traditional sleigh bed or opt for simple modern furniture with clean lines? Give thought to the style and design of other furniture, fixtures and décor in your bedroom that the furniture you purchase should blend well with. At this point it is also good to have an overarching idea of the design style you are aiming to achieve, will it be midcentury modern, eclectic, or boho chic for example. Knowing what you want to achieve will help you choose the right pieces, designs, and materials.

Choosing the bed frame and mattress is a key task. There are a variety of styles available to choose from but you should approach your decision based on a few practical considerations, the height and width of your footboard and headboard. Think about the placement of the bed to understand if it will cover a window or restrict movement near a door and so on. Now is also a good time to think about the size of your bed – would a larger bed suit you more or a smaller one vs. what you currently have?Think about the preferred height and type of mattress you prefer before deciding on your bed frame as it should be able to accommodate the height of the headboard and footboard.

Next, decide on bedside tables. They are important pieces that extend the functionality of your bed. Use your bedframe’s design style and colour as your guide when choosing your bedside tables. They don’t necessarily need to match but they should blend well with the overall design aesthetic you have going in your bedroom. Again, measurements are important to ensure they sit comfortably beside your bed.
